So, I have a good excuse for my lack of posting lately! With summer in session, we decided to start our patio project. Until now, we have not had an outdoor spot to dine or relax, so this is super exciting for me. This project was on the top of our house wish list since we moved in two years ago. We’ve devoted the last month to pulling it together and spending time out there. I love how it turned out and am excited to share some images with you today!
Originally, this little space between our house and garage (that is attached at the back of our house through the mudroom), was made up of a simple sidewalk, some mulch and a small patch of grass that really served no purpose but collect bugs.
My uncle and cousin do masonry work, so we hired them to do the stamped concrete and it turned out beautifully! I went with shades of gray to compliment our house. At first, I was scared it would blend in too much, but I’m really pleased with the outcome! The slate stamp brought out the contrasted charcoal color, which added nice dimension!
We’ve already hosted a couple casual dinner nights on our new patio and I cannot wait for more to come this summer!
My favorite part of the patio is the lounge area. We fell in love with the Praiano collection at World Market. And we got it on sale!! I think it still is! I love the oversized cushions and the wood element brings some life to all the gray back there! Along with the pops of aqua from the pillows and Lili Punched Drum Stool, we use as our make-shift sofa side table.
Another one of my favorite things about this spot is kicking back (well, it really only lasts a couple seconds, but I’ll take it) and sipping my morning coffee while watching my little skateboard guy roll around on the driveway.
Who taught him this trick, anyway?!?
Two going on 20…
I can’t believe my hubby took the handle of this thing, eeek! Do you see what I mean by kicking back with my coffee for only two seconds! Haha!
I am completely content with our patio project at this point, however like most home improvement lovers I have a couple more items on my wish list, including an outdoor fire table for the lounge area and a wood pergola stained to match the lounge furniture. Although, you might not see those updates until next year!
Time to get back outside. Hope you’re soaking in some summer sunshine outdoors this week too!
