Oh Boy! A baby shower: elephants + elegance

Recently, I helped plan a baby shower for a friend of mine (Sarah) expecting her first baby…boy! It was held the same day as the bridal shower I hosted for my future sister-in-law, so I helped her auntie and mama (who I planned with) stage and set up the night before.

This shower was inspired by the nursery colors (navy, green, white and grey), along with a few elephant accents, since they are one of the mama-to-be’s favorite animals. Our mission was simple, classy and sweet! Here are a few photos from the event (please excuse the iPhone camera quality…I wasn’t able to get my good one over there).

Using the inspiration I developed while making the “Bride” banner for the bridal shower, I made two banners for this shower in Baby E’s nursery colors.

A welcome banner hung in the front entrance.

And an “Oh Boy!” banner to match the invitations hung above the dessert table.

Included on the above dessert table was a piece of grey fabric used as the table cloth, modern ceramic elephant candles from Home Goods, a statement letter “E” to represent the baby’s last name (as they are not sharing the first name) from Michaels, a bowl of coordinating M&M’s, grey and white napkins, a sign for the cupcakes and the cupcakes of course!

We ordered the chevron grey and white elephant toppers from Etsy and they turned out so cute!

On the left side of the table I framed baby pictures of the expecting parents and made a sign that read “Look how cute Baby E will be…Momma and Daddy E.” Seriously, this baby boy is going to be so stinking cute, I mean just look at those baby pics! Sarah’s mama found the adorable navy lantern (to be used in the nursery after) at Pottery Barn Baby. They are actually on sale right now, so hurry if you want to grab one!

Lantern

For one centerpiece, we had a navy plush elephant leaning on a jungle-esq planter surrounded by adorable wooden baby blocks. All of which the soon-to-be grandma provided and left as gifts for mama-to-be and Baby E.

Blocks

The second planter and remaining blocks were displayed on another dining table, along with a framed invitation and a dish of coordinating M&M’s.

I had so much fun working with these ladies on this lovely shower. I can tell from this photo (that was sent to me after the event), mama-to-be and Baby E were showered with so much love and joy! Oh Boy!
