Luca Bump Maternity Session: snowy outdoor + snuggly indoor

Whoa! Where did time go? My little bambino and I are at the 9 month marker! Why does it seem like the first 8 weeks drag by and the last 4 weeks fly at mach 10 speed? Either way, I am so excited to meet this little guy! One more month of this belly growing even bigger.

This past weekend I was beyond blessed to experience an amazing maternity session with my bestie at Photography From Eileen.  She never ceases to amaze me and I cannot wait to share her work with you! Here are just a few of my favs from my snowy outdoor and snuggly indoor maternity shoot.

I love these simple black and white snuggly photos with ALL my boys! These were taken at Eileen’s studio.

Luca’s modern woodland nursery: simplicity + serenity

I’m officially in total nesting mode over here at 34 weeks. After finishing little Luca’s nursery this past week (with a ton of help from my pro-DIYer mama), I am excited to share it! Here is Luca’s woodland style nursery with a modern approach to coordinate with the rest of our home.

All of the furniture is from Rocco’s nursery, so this time it was all about the fun stuff! My vision of a reclaimed wood accent piece kicked off the planning process. The current home decor trend of combining rustic with modern inspired me to create a fun focal point above the changing table dresser. After explaining this idea to my mom one day, she was certain we could bring it to life. The wood is actually leftover from a basement renovation at my parents cabin. My mom and dad put it together and I added the marquee letters and an arrow from local craft stores. I love how it makes the room feel modern yet classic.

This bookshelf was already in place, so I just spruced it up with some ceramic woodland creatures and framed art. My goal was to keep it simple and bright.

The crazy creative mama I have also painted these amazing birch trees on the wall…freehand mind you! They make my heart smile every time I enter the room. I originally had nearly a hundred dollars worth of wall decals in my Etsy cart. After sharing my woodland nursery dreams with mom, she told me she could paint them. I know, I’m a very lucky daughter!

Check out this super cute and cozy cloud pillow she sewed up for me as well. This was another item in my Etsy cart I was able to remove.

These sweet star pillows were also part of the pillow package. My favorite part about them all is that they are made with love. I’m not any good at sewing but maybe one of these days I’ll sit down for a tutorial with her so I can pass down the handmade love.

I stuck with simple and neutral functional items like this hook rack and mirror from Ikea.

The name Luca means “light”, so I had the idea to integrate various lighted pieces into the room. One of my favorite purchases is the star pendant above the rocker. It gives off the perfect amount of dimness for nursing at night.

Our little blessing will be here before we know it and we cannot wait to introduce him to his cozy room. I hope you enjoyed the nursery tour and it brings inspiration for your own little ones rooms.

Dreaming of a white Christmas: decor + more

Hello! It’s been a while since I’ve been able to get on here and write. As much as I’ve been missing it the past few months, there is a very good reason for my absence…I’m cooking up another baby boy! Baby Luca is coming this February. And with Rocco turning three tomorrow, my 24/7 mom status has kept me busy keeping him busy. Most days I need a nap when he does!

However, today I have an open afternoon with some banana bread baking in the oven and the perfect opportunity to snuggle behind the computer and chat for a bit. You’d think with Christmas in 10 days I would be baking cookies, but that’s next week!

Speaking of Christmas, decorating the past few years has got me humming the tune “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas.” I finally got the white tree I’ve been dreaming of for years and decorated it whimsical to please the eye of my almost three-year-old little guy.

As for me, it never gets old walking by those sparkling bright white sprigs.

It’s also the little details I love to help share the joy of the season with my little one. Rocco loves snow globes this year, so I made sure to have one at eye-level for him.

My mom passed this white Rudolph snow globe down to me and he loves watching the snow fall as it chimes a Christmas tune.

White stockings are hung on our mantle with care. And the littlest addition this year brings our family so much cheer!

Now we just need some snow outside! I’m not complaining about a mild winter so far, but I would love for our white Christmas to be complete from the inside-out. Mother Nature please bring us a little less than a couple of feet.

As we await the celebration of Jesus’ birth, may the sparkly and white make this joyous season bright!

A rustically sweet maternity shoot: bliss + beauty

My glowing sis-in-law asked me to take some maternity photos for her. With my love for taking pictures and capturing beautiful moments, especially of my family, I was thrilled that she trusted me to do so! I have to admit I was a bit nervous. This was my first attempt at a maternity session and I wanted it to turn out just as she envisioned it. I am happy to say that with this mama-to-be’s pure beauty, the gorgeous location and the magnificent lens my dear friend borrowed me, they turned out better than I imagined. And of course, it was so much fun! Here’s a look at my blissful and beautiful sis-in-law’s rustically sweet maternity shoot.

We are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of this sweet baby girl. I can’t wait to snuggle my niece for the very first time. She is so loved already. Especially by the woman God chose to be her mama!

“For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you daily because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, I know that full well!”
